A planning application to create a new film and TV studio in Waltham Cross has been submitted to the local council.

According to the company behind it, Sunset Waltham Cross Studios will create over 4,800 jobs, with 21 sound stages as well as ancillary workshops, offices and amenities located at junction 25 of the M25.

The studios promise to target Net Zero in terms of carbon output with the landscaping around the site helping to improve the biodiversity of the local area.

Once fully operational, it's believed the studio will be able to host filming of four feature length films at the same time.

This application seeks to put the facility in the top 3 of the best in the UK and is designed for this century and the next rather than an adaptation from a legacy site, said the planning application which has been submitted to Broxbourne Borough Council.

The studios, which will be operated by Blackstone and Hudson Pacific Properties, are expected to be up and running by 2026.

Sunset Studios already has three locations in the United States, and works with the likes of Netflix, BBC, and Disney.
