Euro Media France spent three days in October creating a multi-camera live production in Ultra HD for the French Tennis Federation, providing coverage of the BNP Paribas Masters de Paris-Bercy tennis tournament. The production was supported by a number of companies including Sony, which provided the F55 cameras, the MVS 8000X switcher, the HDCAM S R-R1000 recorders and 4K monitors.
Euro Media France created a complete solution, from the four camera coverage to the delivery of broadcast-ready files with 3840x2160 pixel resolution. The signal was broadcast on site at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy, on 65-inch 4K TV screens provided by tournament sponsor Panasonic.
Other companies involved in the successful 4K trial included Ang nieux and Fuji for the lenses, DVS for the Clipster (recording and transcoding of files), EVS for the slow motion with the XT3 server, Vizrt for the 4K graphic design platform, CTM for the 4K editing suite, Miranda for the down conversion equipment and Axon for the cross conversion from 4K 1080p50 to 4K 1080p25.
A successful transmission of 4K broadcast via an optical fibre network was also completed on site by Euro Media France, in partnership with Vidi via Medialinks. The company also deployed an OB unit for the broadcast of matches for Canal+Sport featuring three cameras, a commentator's booth and a remote camera in the field.
Euro Media France coordinated the whole event by adapting its techniques to the demands of 4K production, commented Ga l Tanguy, Euro Media France's technical director. We also took advantage of the Tennis Masters to go that much further in regards to innovation with the trial run of the Remote Production, which offers great prospects for the future .
