The RT CO also performs with two legendary singers: Pl cido Domingo (3Arena, 17 January, in a concert presented by The Event Company) and Angela Gheorghiu (National Concert Hall, 12 March, in a concert presented by The National Concert Hall)

Always a big hit with Irish audiences, one of the world's most radiant, charismatic singers is back with the RT Concert Orchestra by popular demand. In a wonderful opening to the prestigious Signature Series 2016, she joins the RT CO for a gorgeous selection of popular songs from musicals and classical favourites.

Described as everything from a singing whirlwind' to the Geri Halliwell of opera', Garrett s talents know no bounds. She has fronted countless TV shows including Lesley Garrett Tonight and The Lesley Garrett Show, appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, conquered the West End, toured almost every continent, released 14 solo albums and won a Gramophone Award.

Her previous concerts with the RT CO have brought packed houses to their feet and this evening promises to be no exception.

Pl cido Domingo will celebrate his 75th birthday in January 2016 and he said he can t imagine a better place to celebrate this special occasion. Not having been in Ireland for almost twelve years I am really looking forward to the 2016 appearance. It is a pity we had to reschedule but sometimes this happens. I hope my friends and fans will forgive me and I can assure you of an even more spectacular show in January.' He and special guests Angel Blue and Mica la Oeste join the RT Concert Orchestra and conductor Eugene Kohn for an evening of favourites from opera and musical theatre.

Mise ire Screening with Live Score

Celebrate the 1916 Centenary with the RT Concert Orchestra at this special screening with live score. George Morrison's 1959 classic documentary Mise ire is produced by the pioneering Irish language film makers Gael Linn and scored by one of the most influential figures in the revival of Irish traditional music, Se n Riada. Morrison uses original contemporaneous newsreel footage to tell the story of Ireland in the lead-up to the 1916 Easter Rising, concluding with Sinn F in's electoral victory in 1918. The meticulous restoration from original film elements has been coordinated by the IFI Irish Film Archive.

Here for the first time the film will be presented with live music and spoken narration. David Brophy conducts the RT Concert Orchestra in this patriotic feature-length montage that commemorates the heroes and martyrs of 1916.

The event is part of RT 1916, made possible by Ireland 2016.
