Ro Creative Services aists VISION Production Group with Real-Time D on XPreion, Wins Award for RodeoHouston

Tuesday, June 3, 2015 [Iroquois, Ontario, Canada] - VISION Production Group won Best Live Event Promotion for the Houston Livestock Show and RodeoTM (RodeoHouston) at the 29th Annual American Marketing Association Crystal Awards. VISION's multi-faceted work for RodeoHouston included a real-time 3D graphics package on Ross Video XPression, a new opening video, a live web-stream and television broadcast on FoxSports Southwest.

Tracey Shappro, VISION's CEO said, The challenge for VISION was to give the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo a fresh, clean and progressive look to compliment their legacy brand that worked seamlessly with their presentation technology and broadcast needs. Plus, it had to appeal to hard core rodeo fans and a general sports audience as well.

RodeoHouston is one of the largest events in the world. Over 2.4 million people attended this year's 20-day long extravaganza held at NRG Park in Houston, Texas with millions more watching on television and the web.

RodeoHouston made a significant investment in a real-time 3D motion graphics platform, the Ross XPression system, which is the same equipment used by the Super Bowl. This system shows competitors' real-time results in a 3D environment with minute-by-minute updates. Ross Creative Services multi-skilled team worked alongside Vision Productions team to successfully deliver the award-winning graphics.

Our graphics operators provide diverse functions, all of which need data connectivity. We have a broadcast feed for our live show in the stadium. This broadcast is also streamed nightly. We have a set of screens devoted to social media connectivity, and another workstation that drives sponsor content and live leaderboard and clock data. The operators quickly learned how to implement the XPression templates and sequences for their unique needs, said James Davidson, Managing Director, Audio Visual Presentations and Broadcast. The Ross Creative Services team worked with us to develop intelligent scripted templates to allow the data to drive what was displayed. Each night has a unique focus due to scoring rules and our graphics must deliver that message, precisely and in real time.

The scope of the challenge was huge. Each night, thousands of pieces of data were input by on-site staff to keep up with ten events, each having a dozen competing athletes. Stats like daily Super Series standings, rider profiles, scores, and upcoming events displayed live on a massive 16-sided center-hung LED screen and two of the largest end-zone screens in the world.
