Leica presents Masters of Photography New look, new technologies, new exhibitors: Numerous surprises are awaiting the visitors of photokina 2016. The focus in 2016 is once again the photo as the creative end product of the imaging industry. A top highlight for photo enthusiasts: The impressive photography exhibition Masters of Photography as part of the almost 2,000 m Leica Gallery in Hall 1. As the official photography partner of photokina 2016, Leica Camera AG is furthermore presenting a diversified stage programme comprising of interviews and lectures by the photographers exhibiting in the Leica Gallery.

Masters of Photography

The Masters of Photography exhibition contains 15 series of photos by the following renowned Leica S, SL and M photographers comprising of more than 400 photos in total: Alex Webb, Bruce Gilden, Ellen von Unwerth, York Hovest, Jacob de Boer, Per-Anders Pettersson, Patrick Zachman, Jens Umbach, Roger Ballen, Helge Kirchberger, Christian Steinwender, Fred Mortagne, Kurt Hutton as well as the two winners of the Leica Oskar Barnack Prize 2015, JH Engstr m and Wiktoria Wojciechowska. In cooperation with the German Photographic Society (DGPh) and the Photo Industry Association (PIV), Leica Camera AG will be presenting the Upcoming Masters in a separate exhibition area of the gallery: Ten selected international universities will be presenting in total 80 photos by promising newcomers.

The Leica Gallery in Hall 1 is open to visitors on all days of the trade fair from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Note for press representatives

Please note that the press tour of photokina will be taking part on the first day of the fair i.e. from 10:00 a.m. onwards on 20 September 2016.

The day preceding the trade fair is not a press day. Journalists are not permitted to enter the exhibition halls on Monday, 19 September 2016, unless they have been previously registered by a photokina exhibitor in the scope of a press conference.
