Your Turn To Care Nominated for Los Angeles Area Emmy

KCETs groundbreaking series, Your Turn To Care has been nominated for an Emmy Award for Information/Public Affairs Series. Your Turn to Care was produced by KCET and Executive Producer Margaret Hussey. The 65th Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards Presentation will be held at the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre on Saturday, August 3, 2013.

Your Turn to Care explores the often daunting challenges that face Americas growing generation of baby boomers as they step up to care for ailing or aging loved ones. Award-winning author and actress Holly Robinson Peete hosts the series, sharing her own experiences as a caregiver for her father who suffered from Parkinsons Disease. A number of expert voices add context to the issues addressed in the series, including Gail Sheehy, author of Passages in Caregiving, Patricia Richardson (Home Improvement), Monica Potter (Parenthood), Hector Elizondo (Last Man Standing), Robert David Hall (CSI Crime Scene Investigation), Sandra Tsing Loh (NPRs Morning Edition, KPCC) and Steve Lopez (Los Angeles Times columnist). The initiative was made possible with support from MetLife Foundation, California Community Foundation, The Lippey Family Trust and Gladyce L. Foster. Bret Marcus, also named in the Emmy nomination, worked closely with Hussey in his role as KCETs Chief Content Officer.

Your Turn To Care presents an innovative broadcast, social media, and web-based engagement for viewers. Produced to air as a 4 part series, KCET and Executive Producer Hussey launched a companion website, featuring 50 videos and 100 articles with countless links to additional resources enabling the audience to explore stories and information in a multi-faceted manner.

Husseys extensive resume includes producing credits for Scripps, HGTV, Food Network, Discovery, NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, TLC, HBO and others over the past 20 years. She is a graduate of San Francisco State University, Columbia College and the American Film Institute.

About Margaret Hussey - Executive Producer

Margaret Hussey brings nearly 20 years of experience creating and overseeing a variety of reality, news and documentary projects for major cable outlets and networks that run the gamut from travel, baking, design to more serious topics such as obsession, neonatal health, crime, and news. She has written hundreds of hours of programming (Fabulous Cakes, Housebound: Trapped Inside, Househunters International, NICU: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Genius Kids, Popstars, Design on A Dime, The Other Half, and Travel Daily to name a few. Born and raised in Chicago, she was a Directing Fellow at the American Film Institute, earned a Masters in Arts from San Francisco State University, and her BA from Columbia College, Chicago.
