Sundance Institute & New York University to Host Workshop on Music in Film & Television on May 9

Los Angeles, CA Sundance Institute and New York University (NYU) Steinhardt's Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions today announced they will host Sundance Institute Film Music Program at NYU: Steinhardt, a day-long workshop for composers, filmmakers, students and other industry professionals interested in music in film and television on Saturday, May 9 at the Fredrick Lowe Theatre (35 West 4th Street, between Greene Street and Washington Square East). This marks the first collaboration of its kind between the Institute and NYU Steinhardt and the Institute's first-ever film music workshop in New York. The full-day program, hosted by Ron Sadoff, Chair of NYU Steinhardt's Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions and Director of the Film Scoring Program, and led by Peter Golub, Director of the Sundance Institute Film Music program, will consist of panels and discussions with a diverse lineup of industry veterans. Presenters and panelists include Academy Award-winning sound designer/editor and re-recording mixer Skip Lievsay (No Country for Old Men, True Grit), Emmy Award-winning music editor Todd Kasow (No Country for Old Men, The Big Lebowski), composer Carter Burwell (Fargo, The Kids Are Alright), composer Paul Chihara (Prince of the City, The Morning After), music supervisor Sue Jacobs (American Hustle, Foxcatcher), composer Blake Neely (The Mentalist, Brothers and Sisters) and composer Marcelo Zarvos (Ray Donovan, The Words). The day will end with a networking mixer for attendees to interact with featured speakers and each other.

Sundance Institute Film Music Program at NYU: Steinhardt is a condensed version of Sundance Institute's annual Music and Sound Design Lab, which provides talented composers with valuable first-hand experience composing for film.
