Andrew Dagnell appointed Editor of ITV News

ITV News has today announced Andrew Dagnell as the next editor of Network News. In his new role, Andrew will be responsible for all of ITV's award-winning national news programmes, ITV News London, ITN-produced Tonight programmes, live specials and documentaries for ITV, and the award-winning website and livestream itv.com/news.

Andrew, who joined ITV News in 2015, currently holds the position of Head of Newsgathering, where he is responsible for journalists across the UK and in ITV News' international bureaus.

While in this role Andrew has overseen some of the biggest investigations and scoops of recent years, building ITV News' reputation as a home of impactful, original, investigative journalism, through stories including the 2021 Washington Capitol riots, uncovering the housing crisis, and the abuse in British gymnastics. ITV News was awarded with a BAFTA as well as two consecutive RTS Programme of the Year awards for its high impact journalism during this time.

Andrew has held various roles at ITV News. He started as News Editor of ITV News London, before moving to be Home and Foreign News Editor at ITV Network News and then Head of ITV News' specialist journalists.

Prior to joining ITV News, Andrew was an award-winning local and national newspaper journalist. Later he moved to ITV working as a Senior Producer on breakfast programmes Daybreak and Good Morning Britain.

The announcement of the new editor comes following the recent appointment of current editor, Rachel Corp to CEO of ITN.

On his appointment to Editor, ITV Network News, Andrew Dagnell said:

Andrew's appointment coincides with a significant time at ITV News, with consistently high ratings across the bulletins and a successful longer Evening News programme.

In June, Reuters Digital News report showed ITV News to have the highest net trust rating amongst all UK broadcasters.

Andrew's start date is September 1. Rachel Corp will succeed the role of CEO on the same day.
