Year-long photography competition launched in Ningbo

With aims to advocate strong core values and expose citizens to these values through imagery and top prizes of RMB 5,000, the Ningbo Municipal Party Propaganda Bureau is proud to announce a year-long photography competition titled "Capturing the Beauty of Ningbo".

Entries must be photos taken in Ningbo from year 2013. Categories are divided into landscape and humanity with the aim to document love, life and scenes around town. Composition of the photographs should cover natural scenery, history, humanities, news and events, urban landscape, peoples lives, folk customs, economic and cultural activities, etc.

At the end of each quarter, the organisers will pick three first-prize photographs, five second-prize photographs, and 10 third-prize photographs. Concurrently photographs taken on cell phones will fall under a separate section with separate prizes to be won - 10 first-prize photographs, 20 second-prize photographs, 30 third-prize photographs.

At the end of the year, organisers will select the winning photographs of each quarter, generating 12 photographs for the Ningbo Photography Award of the Year. Winners can win up to RMB 5,000.

Entry Guidelines

1. Photos must be original and must be taken personally. Entrants will retain complete copyright of their photos and must not infringe upon third party copyright laws.

2. Photos can only be slightly altered digitally brightness, contrast, colour saturation, and cropping. Major alterations are not allowed.

3. Once announced, winning photographers will provide high-quality copies of no less than 3,000 pixels.

4. While there is no entry fee, organisers have the right to use submitted photos for exhibit, display,publishing, or media reports. Photographers will not be reimbursed for the use of their work.

5. This competition does not accept photo collages or multiple image photos.

6. Photos previously awarded in any other photography competition, may not be submitted.

Submission

1. Please visit www.nbzm.cnnb.com.cn to submit your photos taken with a camera and fill in the application form. The submission date is the date you upload the photos.

2. For cell phone photos, please upload JPG images to the competition's Sina blog, Ningbo Release'.Label the photo with 2013 Beautiful Ningbo' and indicate the name, location and time of the photo, along with any comments.

The competition is organised by Information Office of Ningbo Municipal Peoples Government, Ningbo Cultural Office and the Ningbo Literary Federation, and is co-organised by the Ningbo Photographers Association, Xian Dai Jin Bao, and Ningbo Radio and Television Group. The NingboCommunication magazine and Ningbo Focus are proud co-operating media partners, to ensure that this inaugural year-long city event is publicised and communicated to the public across the city and globally.
