ABC s WNBA All-Star Game Coverage Promises Plenty of In-Game Acce

Tomorrow afternoon, the WNBA's top players take to the hardwood at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut for the Boost Mobile WNBA All-Star Game. In addition to showcasing league talent, ABC's coverage will be all about fan access, providing live interviews, on-court cameras, and more.

Throughout the game, which will be broadcast Saturday July 27, at 3:30 p.m., reporter Holly Rowe will have access to both the Eastern and Western Conference benches, conducting interviews with players. Studio-show anchor Randy Scott will have live access to players in the locker rooms during halftime, and ABC will showcase live interviews with WNBA players and coaches before and after the game, as well as coming in and out of halftime.

ABC will provide additional access to All-Star participants by deploying on-court cameras during the action, specifically during free throws and dead-ball situations.

The network will ramp up the audio as well, outfitting both head coaches and four players one per half from each team with live microphones.

Ryan Ruocco will have the call of the game, joined by Rowe and analyst Rebecca Lobo.

Return of Ref Cam

After a successful debut on the June 8 contest between the Phoenix Mercury and Indiana Fever, ABC will return the Ref Cam to its WNBA broadcast complement. The Ref Cam, developed by Broadcast Sports Inc. (BSI), provides a real-time, eye-level view for the fans and allows ABC to incorporate the referee's perspective into the telecast.

Ref Cam is a wireless, HD, mini point-of-view camera paired with an HD mini transmitter. The fully remote system includes a vest, which will be worn beneath the official's shirt and contains the transmitter and batteries that provide the power and video.

espnW and ESPN3

espnW will offer in-depth coverage from the WNBA All-Star Game, featuring on-site reporting by Kate Fagan and Graham Hays, midseason reports and picks for midseason awards by Mechelle Voepel and Michelle Smith, analysis by Lobo, and live chat with espnW writers.

ESPN3 and via the ESPN3 player on espnW.com is streaming team practices today from 3 to 5 p.m. Coverage includes audio from microphones worn by the two All-Star head coaches. SportsCenter will provide live look-ins from the practices.
