Three-day Peacehub Initiative Featuring World-Renowned Mediation Experts will Explore Core Issues of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict and a Process for Sustainable Agreement
BURBANK, CA -- June 12, 2014 -- As the world watches the collapse of yet another round of Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, Link TV has announced that it will air PEACE PROCESS REVEALED, presenting an independent conflict resolution initiative with world renowned Middle East mediation experts and negotiation teams from both sides. Peacehub, a non-governmental organization committed to enriching the public discourse around the Israeli and Palestinian conflict, has granted Link TV inside access to its three-day summit in Jerusalem. This special series offers transparency into the peace process, capturing the key moments and core issues of contention discussed during the intensive negotiations process. PEACE PROCESS REVEALED will be broadcast as three daily one-hour specials from Tuesday, June 17 through Thursday, June 19 at 8 p.m. Pacific and 11 p.m. Eastern. Each daily episode will repeat the following day at 5 p.m. Pacific / 8 p.m. Eastern.
We are thrilled that Link TV can be a fly on the wall for our viewers at this forward-thinking summit that independently explores whether the two sides can arrive at terms for a peaceful coexistence, said Bohdan Zachary, KCETLinks Senior Vice President. This is an unprecedented opportunity to make sense of the intricacies and challenges of the Mid-East peace negotiation process and provide much-needed transparency to demonstrate that through negotiations progress is possible.
Streaming live from Jerusalem over three days at peacehub.net, the summit will consist of professional negotiations between: an Israeli delegation led by attorney Gilead Sher, chief Israeli negotiator at the 2000 Camp David Summit; a Palestinian delegation lead by Jibril Rajoub, former head of the Palestinian Preventive Security Force in the West Bank; and an international mediation team led by Prof. Robert H. Mnookin, Chair of the Harvard Program on Negotiations.
The negotiations will center on the core issues that have separated the two sides for decades: Jerusalem, Palestinian refugees, territory and security. The delegations will also spend time addressing difficult if unavoidable relational issues that have so often thwarted previous efforts to forge agreements. Renowned Israeli and Palestinian research institutes will prepare the negotiating position papers, based on the Clinton understandings at the 2000 Camp David Summit, the Road Map designed under the Bush Administration and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Peacehub producer Eyal Sher has created a dedicated content-rich website (peacehub.net) that accompanies the initiative, along with extensive social media activity and varied cultural and community interventions. Widespread grassroots efforts and NGO and media partnerships are leveraged to create a public echo of the projects main theme - the feasibility of a fair, sustainable agreement.
Link TVs senior programming executive Kim Spencer will be in Jerusalem during the summit, presenting the PEACE PROCESS REVEALED broadcasts to American satellite viewers with special introductions and guest commentators each evening. This unique exploration of Track Two efforts alongside government negotiations, noted Spencer, continues Link TVs Peabody Award-winning coverage of Mid-East issues over the past 15 years.
The three Link TV broadcasts and the live streaming available at peacehub.net (daily from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. Eastern time, due to the time difference) will allow the public the opportunity to watch high-level, professional conflict resolution negotiations and partake in a process that to date has left them without a voice.
Link TVs broadcasts of PEACE PROCESS REVEALED are supported by grants from the Esalen Institute and TRACK TWO: an Institute for Citizen Diplomacy, and contributions by Link TV viewers.
