ITV commissions new drama, Cheat, written by Gaby Hull to be produced by Two Brothers Pictures

ITV's Head of Drama Polly Hill today confirmed commission of gripping, psychological thriller Cheat.

Awarding-winning indie, Two Brothers Pictures, will produce the emotionally affecting four-part miniseries, which is skillfully written by screenwriting newcomer Gaby Hull.

At the heart of the drama is the dangerous relationship between university professor Leah, and her student Rose, when, what begins as a seemingly open and shut case of academic deception, quickly spirals out of control, ending in fatal consequences, and triggering a devastating sequence of events that threaten to engulf them both. With two fiercely intelligent minds unwilling to back down, Cheat will keep audiences guessing from the start, exploring just how far we're prepared to stand up for what we believe, and at what cost.

Two Brothers Pictures, Harry and Jack Williams will executive produce the drama, which goes into production during the early part of 2018.

The pair commented: Cheat is a gripping and brilliantly written drama debut, and we're delighted to be working with Gaby bringing this story to the screen.

Cheat will be produced by Lydia Hampson (Fleabag, The Art of Foley) with details of who is to direct the series announced in the build up to filming.

Writers and producers, Jack and Harry Williams established the indie in early 2014 to produce quality drama and comedy for the UK and international audiences.

Two Brother Pictures have also been responsible for hit ITV drama series, Liar, which is the channel's highest rated new drama of the year. The series, starring Joanne Froggatt and Ioan Gruffudd, is currently heading towards a dramatic conclusion with the finale broadcasting on Monday 16 October.

Details of Cheat's casting and key production roles will be announced later this year.
