IABM s John Ive takes centre stage at Bill Lovell Memorial Lecture

The forthcoming Bill Lovell Memorial Lecture 2015 will be led by renowned broadcast and media expert, and IABM Director of Technology and Strategic Insight, John Ive. Tickets are now available for the the event, which is free to attend for SMPTE members, non-members and students, will take play at Dolby Europe, Soho Square in London on Friday October 16, 6.15pm 10.00pm.

The lecture was established by SMPTE UK, in honour of the late Bill Lovell, renowned in the industry for his dedication and enthusiasm through his years of work at the BBC and ARRI Media. Prior to Bill's death in 2013, he had tirelessly championed new technologies, demystifying the science for many and providing practical understanding to countless camera professionals. The level of Bill's commitment for sharing knowledge and experience was reflected in him being one of the first attendees to SMPTE UK meetings, when the organisation was originally founded.

John Ive, IABM said: When Bill died suddenly in March 2013, this industry lost a good friend and teacher and it is a great honour to be invited to give this SMPTE presentation in his memory. Bill dedicated his career to new technologies that would take the industry into the future, and I very much share the same passion. In fact, my theme for the lecture will be Fast Forward into the Future and I will be focusing on what I've learnt through 40 plus years in this industry and relating that to what is next on the horizon for our rapidly changing sector.

John Ive's career has been a classic example of a journey with no end point. Over a career in the broadcast and media industry spanning more than 40 years he has been intimately involved in many of the strategic and technical developments that have revolutionised the way the sector works and what the industry produces.
