KEXP, una emisora local de Seattle (Washington, EE.UU.) muy popular por difundir la m sica independiente m s moderna, ha empleado la tecnolog a de Dalet para incrementar su audiencia online, difundir v deo e integrar a la audiencia social en su oferta de comunicaci n.
Kevin Cole, director de programaci n s nior en KEXP, comenta que apoyamos a los grupos musicales no respaldadas por los medios de comunicaci n comerciales. Nuestra misi n es llevar a nuestra audiencia m sica apasionada e inteligente ayudando a los aficionados a descubrir y explorar la mejor m sica nueva a trav s de todos los g neros musicales .
Como arranque de este proyecto, se procedi a la catalogaci n y preservaci n del extenso cat logo de LPs y CDs de la emisora as como la integraci n de contenido archivado con multimedia producido internamente y adquirido de fuentes de terceros sobre una base diaria. Tambi n se afront un aumento en la producci n de contenidos multimedia mediante la racionalizaci n de los flujos de trabajo y el fomento de la colaboraci n entre todos los usuarios.
Al mismo tiempo se abord la expansi n a nuevos modelos de consumo digital v a publicaci n en medios de comunicaci n social as como la puesta en marcha de una plataforma para reproducir manualmente este contenido al aire.
Dalet ha sentado las bases para que esta peque a emisora de radio crezca en presencia online y expanda su marca internacionalmente. Su plataforma proporciona a KEXP una producci n y distribuci n de extremo a extremo desde desde la grabaci n de m sica y programas hasta la emisi n y desde la emisi n en FM hasta distribuci n de medios sociales.
Gran parte de la programaci n de KEXP est basada en el rock alternativo, aunque tambi n difunde otros g neros musicales particulares como blues, hip hop, punk, electr nica y country alternativo. En este caso, la emisora conf a en sus locutores para programar la mejor m sica a diferencia de otras emisoras donde la programaci n musical est centralizada seg n intereses comerciales.
Junto con sus 40 DJs-locutores, una de las grandes bazas con las que juega KEXP son las actuaciones en directo en estudio, recibiendo a m s de 500 grupos y solistas a lo largo del a o. Dado que la selecci n musical por parte de los DJs es tan org nico, la tecnolog a a implantar ten a que permitir poder salir al aire con cualquier tema con solo arrastrarlo a la playlist. El equipo de KEXP tras estudiar otras opciones en el mercado y hablar con otras emisoras que ya ven an utilizando la gesti n de activos opt por la tecnolog a de Dalet.
Jamie Alls, director de ingenier a en KEXP, destaca que Dalet escuch y personaliz su sistema para nosotros para que el playout en radio estuviera integrado con nuestra biblioteca digital .
Cheryl Waters, DJ y presentadora de The Midday Show en KEXP, subraya que en cualquier momento puedo o r un hilo dentro de un canci n que est conectada con otra. Con el toque de algunos botones, puedo llamarla desde nuestra biblioteca contando una historia con solo hacer una b squeda sin tener que ir corriendo por los pasillos con CDs. Nuestro formato es nuestro activo m s valioso, y Dalet lo hace a n m s poderoso, benefici ndose finalmente nuestros oyentes .
En cualquier momento, KEXP tiene un par de cientos de nuevos lbumes en rotaci n. La emisora carga detalles incluyendo comentarios, rankings e informaci n de artistas en Dalet, poniendo nueva m sica y descubrimiento de artista ofreciendo esta informaci n al DJ-locutor.
La biblioteca de KEXP contiene unos 40.000 CD pero con recursos limitados, incluso ingestando 200 CDs a la semana, el proceso de digitalizaci n total tomar alg n tiempo. El objetivo con Dalet es tener cada nueva pieza de m sica digitalizada, indexada y puesta a disposici n de nuestros DJs. Eso es una gran victoria para nosotros en t rminos de curaci n , afirma Alls. La informaci n de la lista de reproducci n se rellena autom ticamente en la biblioteca digital de KEXP, liberando a los DJs para obtener m s contenido creativo en vez de requerir que escriban manualmente en cada pista entre canciones.
KEXP tambi n quer a la integraci n con la biblioteca de metadatos de c digo abierto MusicBrainz para curar sus activos y a adir nuevos lanzamientos semanales y la m sica digitalizada de la biblioteca. La tecnolog a de Dalet est basada en una API abierta por lo que es capaz de vincular metadatos de MusicBrainz directamente en el MAM en KEXP.
Anteriormente, KEXP hab a intentado agregar metadatos sobre las listas de reproducci n y la informaci n del artista de cada DJ en su base de datos existente, pero los dos conjuntos de metadatos result incompatible. Hab a un mont n de duplicados, los metadatos estaban muy sucios y resulta que es muy dif cil mantener un limpiar la biblioteca completa de metadatos de m sica , dice Alls. Tampoco contamos con los recursos para mantenerlo continuamente . Gracias a la integraci n de la API de Dalet con MusicBrainz, KEXP puede asociar metadatos enriquecidos a todos los t rminos del glosario para artista, banda y lbum. De esta manera KEXP est construyendo una gran biblioteca nica para todos los registros pregrabados y material producido localmente.
