Film Busine Development Manager

This position involves the management, analysis and forecast of all the Independent Film Division's acquired content to support and guide decision-making and negotiations with the business insight.

It includes content cost and revenue forecasting, annual and quarterly budget management, royalty management and regular reporting. The Independent Film Analyst will also manage and work closely with the Royalty Accountant.

Successfully support the Head of the Independent Film Division with business analysis and insight.

Assist the Head of Independent Film Acquisitions in drafting and managing the forecasts and budgets relating to all acquired films, including revenue, content costs, P&A and MG costs.

Successfully manage all finance related aspects throughout the content license periods, which include the sales, distribution and royalty reporting functions across platforms.

Propose and implement a financially viable distribution strategy for independent films across all windows in order to maximise the recoupment of investments (strong focus on increasing revenues across all platforms).

Manage inventory to fully exploit independent films across all window periods to ensure recoupment.

Continuously investigate new opportunities to increase revenues across all distribution windows/platforms.

Ensure appropriate accounting of independent film acquisitions relating to Minimum Guarantees and Overage payments to international suppliers in accordance with group accounting policies.

Manage withholding tax regulations for all independent films within group accounting policies.

Manage the external and internal independent film audit process, as well as independent studio audits.

Manage all foreign currency exposure and ensure that all risks are mitigated accordingly per group policies.

Review monthly sub-distributor statements, and ensure compliance with agreed SLA's.

Managing all finance related aspects specific to 3rd party service providers.

Provide Finance with all related cost centre reallocation and related financial information.

Payment authorization.

Management of the Royalty Accountant and review of their work.

Management of all internal and external auditing processes related to the Independent Film Division.

Ensure accurate, complete and transparent reporting amongst all stakeholders as contractually agreed (3rd party distributors, sub-licensees, local and international studios/production houses).

Adhere to all contractual reporting and payment obligations.

Successfully create and maintain effective and efficient workflows relating to internal operations within the Independent Film Division, including external operations impacting on the performance of the business unit.

Focus on strengthening all VOD platforms within the group to increase revenues.

Accurate monthly and quarterly reporting, including presentations as and when required by business.

Education & Experience

CA (SA) qualifications

Relevant accounting experience

MS Excel Advanced

Extensive knowledge and experience of the international and local film industry business.

Knowledge of film lifecycles and distribution windows/platforms.
