Panasonic is pleased to announce that its Etherea* and Flagship air conditioning systems have won a 2013 iF Product Design Award.

The iF Design Awards are among the World's most prestigious awards for design excellence. With strict a criterion that judges everything from cosmetic appearance, functionality, through to the environmental impact, the awards are only bestowed to products that demonstrate true innovative design.

Thanks to its highly intelligent functionality, the award winning Panasonic Etherea air-conditioning system is the ideally suited to domestic and other localised installations.

The award also takes into account the sophistication of design and advancements in technology, compared with alternatives used for similar purposes. Working to create optimum atmospheric conditions, theEtherea takes charge by adjusting the system settings automatically. This allows the product to work as efficiently and economically as possible, reducing carbon emissions and minimising energy waste. Combined with a purifying system, the Etherea provides clean healthy air, by reducing dirt, dust, contamination and other chemical products within the room.

Etherea offers a broad range of products capable of conditioning rooms of all sizes (2.2kW to 8kW) continually optimising efficiency, courtesy of Panasonic's A-rated inverter system which provides energy savings of up to 45%.

FURTHER ENERGY SAVINGS WITH ECONAVI

Utilising high-tech sensors and precise control programs, Econavi analyses room conditions and adjusts the cooling power accordingly. The unit makes use of multiple sensors, which measure the room's temperature, humidity, as well as detecting human presence. New for 2013, the Etherea range is supplied with a temperature wave function, which improves comfort by modulating temperature in a rhythmical control pattern. This new approach was developed based on an understanding of thermal comfort and user perception of temperatures change.

Taking advantage of this understanding in Thermal Physiology, Panasonic Research and Development Centre developed the control algorithm which offsets thermal physiological response. When Econavi detects human presence with a reduction activity, Temperature Wave modifies the rhythmic temperature control to realise further energy saving without sacrificing comfort.

Users can make savings of up to 35% in cooling mode and 45% in heating mode at the touch of a button.

NANOE-G AIR PURIFYING SYSTEM

Panasonic's Etherea air conditioners are supplied with Nanoe-G, an air purifying system which utilises fine, nano technology particles consisting of ions and radicals to purify the air within the space it serves. It works effectively on airborne and adhesive micro-organisms such as bacteria, viruses and mould, thus ensuring a cleaner healthier environment. In 2013, the new range comes with a brand new feature that deactivates bacteria and viruses trapped in the filter.

Nanoe-G is able to remove 99% of bacteria, viruses and mould in the air. Performance has been tested and certified by the Kitasato Research Centre for Environmental Science.

ECONOMICAL AND ENVIRONMENT-FRIENDLY

The Etherea range is also fully compliant with the forthcoming Energy Related Products Directive (ErP), which comes into effect in January 2013. These changes will provide the building services industry a better understanding of the real efficiency of air conditioning systems.

INTERNET CONTROL PUTS YOU IN CONTROL

The Etherea can also be controlled remotely by using an Android or iOS smartphone, tablet or PC via the internet. From anywhere in the world, users can now easily and intuitively turn the system on or off, set specific temperatures for each room through a simple touch of a button.
