Lightware Expands Education Support With New Products and...

Lightware is supporting educational institutions in building modern learning environments by combining professional training with education-focused AV technology. Alongside the Lightware Academy and its Grant and LEAD programmes, the company is also introducing new developments this year across the Gemini GVN product family and the Taurus TPN Ecosystem, while also adding Rack Taurus and the GPIO-Button for simpler deployment and room control.

New AV solutions for flexible learning environments

Building on Lightware's existing GVN portfolio, the company introduced the Gemini GVN USB-C varient this year for spaces such as seminar rooms, classrooms, teacher stations and small collaboration rooms, where quick USB C laptop connection and consistent operation matter most.

For rack-based education builds such as lecterns, AV racks and centralised installations in larger shared rooms Lightware also introduced Rack Taurus, bringing the Taurus UCX experience into a clean 1RU form factor designed to simplify deployment and servicing while maintaining familiar room workflows.

To make in-room operation even easier, the new GPIO Button adds straightforward press-to-action control when connected to compatible Lightware devices with GPIO ports, enabling quick, tactile actions configured in LARA.

For larger lecture halls, divisible teaching rooms, auditoriums, overflow spaces and multi-building campuses, the TPN Ecosystem provides centrally managed SDVoE-based 10G AV-over-IP, enhanced by the TPN-MMU for streamlined discovery, configuration and monitoring across endpoints including Taurus TPN, HDMI TPN and HDMI OPTN

Together, these new developments enable Lightware to deliver more efficient, scalable education solutions for classrooms and campus-wide deployments.

Investing in Education and Expertise

The company also helps institutions and professionals acces the resources and expertise they need. Through the Grant Programme, schools, colleges and universities can apply to access Lightware technology for classroom environments. Meanwhile, the LEAD Program provides partners with consultancy, project design assistance, proof-of-concept demonstrations, technical training, support and extended warranty services.

Training is another key part of this approach. Lightware Academy offers free, ProAV-certified e-learning covering traditional AV, AV-over-IP, and room automation. Selected courses are also eligible for AVIXA points, helping professionals maintain their certifications while keeping skills current. From this year, most courses are also available with subtitles in twelve languages.

A Real-World Example: Leiden University

At Leiden University's Campus Spui in The Hague, Taurus UCX solutions have been deployed across lecture halls, classrooms, offices and study areas. The university selected UCX solutions according to the requirements of each room, using Dante-enabled UCX units in larger lecture halls and hybrid classrooms, and standard UCX units in conventional classrooms and smaller spaces.

The UCX platform allows lecturers and students to connect laptops with minimal setup, delivering 4K video, audio, control signals and power over a single USB-C connection. This provides a consistent AV experience across different learning spaces while simplifying everyday operation.
