Sound Devices Launches Firmware Collaboration Program New Release Candidate Screening to Enhance Firmware Performance.

REEDSBURG, WI, OCTOBER 9, 2014. Sound Devices - specialists in portable audio and video products for live event, field, and studio production-announces a new Firmware Release Candidate program, which allows existing end users of its popular audio and video products to get a sneak peek at upcoming new firmware features and changes. The Release Candidate is a feature-complete firmware version with all new features thoroughly tested in the lab, but it is not a fully qualified or warrantied version.

Sound Devices enjoys a highly regarded, open-door relationship with its customers worldwide, and this program promises to expand on that bond. The goal is to work together with end users to identify and resolve any potential stability issues and get feedback on product performance in real-life workflows, so the best possible firmware makes it into upcoming official releases. It should be noted that the program is not open to new feature requests. Users can sign up for the program, download the Release Candidate, and provide feedback on the firmware and any issues encountered via a convenient online form located on the company's website at: www.sounddevices.com/download/release-candidate/.

The Firmware Release Candidate program will initially target the Video Devices and Sound Devices rack-mount products, but the company plans to expand the program to its other product lines over time. Sound Devices is launching this new program with the Firmware v2.10 Release Candidate for the 970 Audio Recorder and the PIX 250i, PIX 260i, and PIX 270i Video Recorders. Existing end users of these products are encouraged to field screen this firmware, which includes new metadata features, sound reports, file/folder formats, and much more.
