Prime Focus World and Double Negative merge

In a move that creates the biggest VFX and animation company in the world, India's Prime Focus World (PFW) and the UK's Double Negative (DNeg) will merge, pending an agreement in the coming weeks.

The new company will trade under the Double Negative brand and will be headed by DNeg's managing director, Alex Hope and CEO Matthew Holben. The new company will continue to operate its London and Singapore facilities and will open Double Negative Vancouver in the autumn. The new company will also have access to Prime Focus World's production and technology infrastructure in Mumbai.

Prime Focus World's stereoscopic 3D conversion and animation business will continue to operate under the Prime Focus World banner. Prime Focus will continue to hold about 80 per cent of the stock in the new company.

Recent projects by Double Negative include Christopher Nolan's Interstellar and the Wachowskis' Jupiter Ascending. Recent projects by Prime Focus World include Maleficent and Edge of Tomorrow.
