World Radio Day: On the same wavelength

To mark World Radio Day, Calrec's International Sales Manager, Graham Murray takes a look at how the rise of IP has helped connect communities across the globe and the benefits attached.

This year, UNESCO, who proclaimed this important annual event back in 2011, is dedicating #WorldRadioDay to Radio and Climate Change .

Radio has played a vital role in our lives for decades. A Statista report shows that by 2029, there are expected to be 3.2bn global radio users. This isn't surprising, radio provides news, education, information and entertainment, but more fundamentally, it gives communities and isolated individuals a direct line to the outside world. This is particularly valuable in times of crisis, such as extreme weather events or other disasters. It also creates a shared experience in a way that television can't, allowing those who are culturally and geographically drawn together to feel an even greater sense of community.
