SMC-SGMB PARTNERSHIP SUPPORTS SHARED OBJECTIVES OF PROMOTING SHARJAH'S CULTURE OF DIALOGUE AND TOLERANCE
The Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) and Sharjah Media Corporation (SMC) have started preparations for the sixth edition of their joint Ramadan Majlis, themed Our Majlis is Special during the Holy Month, celebrating the values and glorious traditions of the holy month.
The two entities have held a coordination meeting to discuss and finalise the programme of the upcoming Ramadan Majlis and the key topics it will raise with the aim of promoting social cohesion, dialogue and disseminating knowledge.
The two sides agreed on the importance of hosting such Ramadan events, which form an important part of the UAEs history and culture.
HE Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director General of Sharjah Media Corporation (Sharjah Radio & TV) said the partnership with the SGMB to host the Ramadan Majlis reflects and supports the common media objectives pursued by both entities, articulating the vision of the Emirate of Sharjah in accordance with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
He added that hosting the Ramadan Majlis stems from Sharjahs long tradition and culture of Ramadan evenings, strengthening bonds of communication with all segments of the society in line with the values represented by the holy month.
HE Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), stressed the importance of collaborating with SMC in hosting the Ramadan Majlis according to shared objectives and visions, which will further enrich this years edition and add value to its diverse outputs. Allay lauded the efforts of SMC and its pioneering role in conveying the image of Sharjah and delivering its message to the world.
According to the Director of Sharjah Government Media Bureau, the sessions of the upcoming Ramadan Majlis will focus on faith, community, culture, sports and arts, and will host leading Emirati figures, together with a galaxy of regional and Arab authors, artists and thought leaders.
The past five editions of Sharjah Ramadan Majlis formed a distinct platform for cultural and intellectual dialogue and achieved many of their objectives reflecting Sharjahs vision to promote the culture of dialogue and social cohesion.
Each session of the past Ramadan Majlis held under a specially created beautiful pavilion at Al Majaz Amphitheatre overlooking the Khalid Lagoon was widely acclaimed and reported in regional and UAE media, helping shine the light on the bright image of the Emirate.
Last years Ramadan Majlis was graced with the presence of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, who called on media professionals to serve as teachers in their societies and gave a profound lecture on the topic of Who Are the Arabs?
The Sharjah Ramadan Majlis is one of the most innovative initiatives by Sharjah Government Media Bureau and Sharjah Media Corporation to raise and discuss a wide spectrum of issues before the community, with the help of distinguished experts, innovators, intellectuals, writers and artists from across the Arab world.
