Ortana Announces Major Expansion of its Cubix Platform

Ortana Media Group announces a major expansion to the capabilities of its Cubix asset management and media orchestration platform. Used by major television channels throughout the world, Cubix is capable of handling all broadcast-related workflows from inception right through to billing. Designed for media management, processing and delivery, it offers a unified configurable platform for easy deployment on site, in the cloud or both. Every element is secure, multi-tenanted, file-agnostic and format-agnostic.

The new Cubix Taskflow Designer allows system administrators to build their own workflows and design task-specific user interfaces exactly matching their operational requirements.

Also being introduced is Cubix Tracker & Reporting. This provides visual displays allowing non-technical staff to review any Cubix taskflow and drill down into detailed file-related information as well as corporate information such as service-level agreements. Content can be tracked through the entire process chain from licensing and ingest through to transmission.

With the new Cubix True Hybrid Cloud offering, Cubix can be operated in on-site servers, entirely in the cloud or as a hardware-plus-cloud hybrid. It provides native support for Amazon RDS and Microsoft Azure SQL. Remote Harness allows easy and agile control. The modular nature of Cubix and its Resource Groups gives administrators the freedom to migrate their Cubix systems in discrete steps to and from the cloud.

A further new introduction is Cubix Shared SaaS. This costs just £199 per month with per-seat licensing. It includes all the features of Ortana s Technical and Clips/Distribution Portals as well as access to virtual devices transcoding, file-based quality-control and storage.

Integral to every Cubix system is an asset management layer supporting a wide range of needs. These include the ability to configure content hierarchies and editorial schemas. Cubix also provides full support for workflows based on discrete media such as tape and film. Incorporating selected market-leading third-party software, it can seamlessly drive devices for applications ranging from bulk ingest and transcoding to OTT fulfilment and playout.

The highly configurable orchestration layer within Cubix works both with the asset management and automation layers, allowing many different workflows to be quickly configured and re-configured as required. It provides support for fully automated operation as well as more complex creative processes. Cubix is securely accessed via multiple web portals for many different use cases, all providing the highest levels of transparency and efficiency.
