THE EMPRESS Royal sequel - Netflix confirms season 2

Berlin, 8. November 2022 - Fans have fallen in love with Empress Elisabeth who will return for more in season 2 of The Empress. The historical drama has captivated audiences around the world, appearing in Netflix's global Top 10 non-English TV show list for five straight weeks and topping the Top 10 in 88 countries around the world including Mexico, Brazil, the UK, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Australia, and its home country, Germany.

The cast of Devrim Lingnau, Philip Froissant, Melika Foroutan, Johannes Nussbaum, Almila Bagriacik, and J rdis Triebel will return to their respective roles. Katharina Eyssen will also act as showrunner for the second season of this moving historical drama, creatively supported by Executive Producer Robert Eyssen. Production is overseen by Sommerhaus Serien GmbH led by Jochen Laube and Fabian Maubach. Scarlett Lacey returns as Executive Producer.

About The Empress - Season 1

When rebellious Elisabeth ( Sisi ) meets Franz, Emperor of Austria, the young couple's extraordinary love completely jumbles the dynasty's power structure. After the wedding, the young empress not only has to find herself in a world that is strange to her, but also has to assert herself against Sophie, her mother-in-law, who before had been the most powerful woman at court.
