TNDV, GameTime Productions Expand REMI Role for Team Boxing League Season 4

TNDV and GameTime Productions have expanded their remote production responsibilities for Team Boxing League (TBL) for the league's recently completed fourth season. TNDV's Sallie mobile production unit served as the centralized production control room in Irving, Texas, while GameTime Productions coordinated local technical crews at venues around the country, including the Aug. 30 championship at War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. All events aired live on Envoy TV.

In Season 3, TNDV supplied remote fly packs, cameras, and supporting systems at each venue, while live signals were sent to a third-party REMI facility in Texas for production. For Season 4, TNDV took responsibility for both ends of the workflow, receiving venue camera and audio feeds into Sallie, producing the live program, and supporting outbound distribution to broadcast and streaming partners.

The regular season typically included three live matches most weekends, originating from three different cities on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. TNDV maintained three remote production racks that rotated among venues. Each venue typically featured six HD camera signals: four operated cameras (a primary game camera, two handhelds, and a jib) and two fixed cameras focused on the team corrals. GameTime Productions provided camera operators, audio technicians, and other technical personnel at the venues.

TNDV transports venue feeds to Irving primarily using SRT over public internet connections, typically budgeting approximately 10 Mb/s per video feed. Return program feeds and confidence multiviewers are sent back to the venues so local technicians can confirm their signals have reached the truck. For backup, TNDV uses cellular-based LiveU to maintain an on-air camera feed if primary internet service is disrupted. TNDV's Nashville operations center monitors bandwidth and signal health, manages remote intercom, and provides backup paths. Operators can adjust compression and latency when bandwidth varies.

Inside Sallie, the remote signals are combined with three additional cameras covering commentators and studio presentation in Irving, creating a nine-camera production. The HD truck includes a Grass Valley production switcher, EVS replay systems, and a Calrec audio console.

TNDV supports outbound SRT distribution from Sallie to multiple broadcast recipients, and its Nashville infrastructure converts and distributes feeds via RTMP where required for connected and streaming platforms. The workflow also includes remote Unity Intercom connectivity between production personnel and venue crews. Season 4 matches were distributed across regional television and streaming outlets in addition to Envoy TV.

Bringing the venue-side REMI systems and the centralized production environment under the same TNDV umbrella has made the entire workflow more cohesive, says Rob Devlin, President, TNDV. We already understood the production requirements from Season 3, so this year was about fine-tuning the model and taking greater responsibility for the complete technical ecosystem. We can see and manage what is happening from the venue all the way through the truck and into distribution, which gives the production team a much more unified operation.

REMI was essential to making the schedule both logistically and economically practical, says Larry Meyers, Consulting Executive Producer, Team Boxing League television. We can have our primary production team and talent working from the same location throughout a three-event weekend while the venues change around the country. TNDV and GameTime have helped us develop a production model that can move efficiently from city to city while still delivering a very polished television product.

For what we are doing, Sallie is exceptionally well suited, says Meyers. The production team is together, the technology has everything we need, and TNDV's engineers are right there with us. More importantly, the same company is responsible for the equipment at the venues and the production infrastructure at the truck. If something needs attention, there is no question about where one vendor's responsibility ends and another begins. Everybody is working together toward the same result.

The technology behind REMI has reached a point where productions like this can achieve things that would have been economically difficult just a few years ago, says Meyers. We produced 56 live events this season, with venue signals traveling over SRT and the public internet. That changes the economics of producing a growing sports property, while still allowing us to deliver the quality audiences and distribution partners expect.
