About All Quiet on the Western Front:
Spring 1917. 17-year-old Paul B umer (Felix Kammerer) and friends can't wait to join the war, to march on Paris and declare victory. Thats how the boys imagine it. Thats how it is promised to them. In high spirits they march to the front, the Iron Youth' - for their Kaiser, God, and fatherland. Their enthusiasm doesn't last long. When they reach the Western Front after days of marching, it is pouring with rain. The trenches flooded and became a swamp. But the French waste no time. Soon they start firing at the trench.
All Quiet on the Western Front tells the gripping story of a young German soldier on the Western Front during the First World War. Paul (Felix Kammerer) and his comrades quickly feel the initial euphoria of war fade into horror, pain and fear as they fight desperately for their lives in the trenches.
Director Edward Berger (Patrick Melrose, Jack, Deutschland 83) was able to attract an impressive ensemble for his film. Newcomer Felix Kammerer is captivating in the lead role as Paul B umer.
