Industry Leaders Form Samaserve

Three leading industry pros, Bob Ott, Sal Sandoval and Mel Medina, have joined forces with financial expert Vincent Tuzzio, Jr. to form Samaserve, a sales and service company that is taking an innovative approach to providing broadcast and professional digital cinema, television studios and mobile video production companies with first tier production consulting, technology sales, support and service.

With a combined 80+ years of experience in product development and support, long-time Sony execs Ott, Sandoval and Medina have all been directly involved with the introduction of such seminal digital technologies and popular formats as Universal Betacam, DVCAM, HDV, XDCAM, the PMW F3, F5, F55 and, OLED monitors. The Samaserve team's Pro Audio credentials include overseeing marketing of DAT and solid-state digital recorders, the MDR professional headphone series and Pro Mini Disc.

Rather than trying to develop a new technology in search of an application, Samaserve has focused its efforts on the thousands of camcorders and shoulder-style cameras already in the market. And, they have developed a method to extend the productive life expectancy of those investments. After surveying the industry, they aligned their sales/marketing, production and support expertise with the new Nipros, (nee- pros) product line of camera accessories popular throughout Asia. The products are manufactured by Nippon Video Systems (NVS), in Japan, which has pioneered camera rigs and accessories that enable any ENG/EFP or DSLR type camera to be operated within a multi-camera studio / stadium environment or digital cinema set.

The need to take studio cameras and camcorders out of that environment and use them in the field or elsewhere, is now a serious necessity, because professionals need to get the most bang for their camera buck, Ott said. These are tough economic times. We understand that video pros need to accomplish more with their existing resources. The Nipros product line was inspired by the clear understanding of client needs and the development of products that meet and exceed those needs, Ott said. We are venturing into areas with our flagship product, the LS-750 Fiber Optic Adapter, which offer true 4K operation using accepted industry standards, and provides four HDSDI 3G signal paths plus an additional HDSDI 3G connection. The LS-750 anticipates the need within the nascent 4K production and broadcast industries for shooting a 4K and HD image simultaneously; e.g. 4K/HD simulcast broadcasts.

Nipros gives camera operators all the tools they need, and every one of those tool controls is operator-selectable, Sandoval said.
