SVG Photo Gallery: Game Creek Video s New NESN Truck

Earlier this month, Game Creek Video unveiled its newest mobile production unit, a truck that it had designed in collaboration with regional sports network powerhouse NESN.

The state-of-the-art double expando takes RSN production to a new technological level with the latest gear from Grass Valley, Sony, Evertz, Chyron, SportsMEDIA Technology, EVS, and more.

SVG was on-site in Boston for an exclusive tour of the industry's newest mobile unit just before its big debut with the first official broadcast of Boston Bruins hockey on NESN. A new, multi-million dollar, state-of-the-art production trailer was custom built for NESN by Game Creek Video. The truck made its debut at the Boston Bruins season opener on Oct. 3.

The truck is built around a Grass Valley Kayenne 5 ME switcher [96x48].

The Technical Director [TD] operates the Grass Valley Kayenne switcher prior to the start of a Bruins game on NESN.

Nine 6-channel EVS devices (including spot box) give NESN the ability to record and use up to 18 different replay angles at all times.

The sophisticated network infrastructure is fully connected with NESNs home studio in Watertown, MA.

The truck - which will also be used for local college events including the Beanpot Hockey Tournament - features top of the line equipment such as Sony HDC-2500L cameras.

NESNs producer-director team on Bruins games, Brian Zechello and Rose Mirakian, will utilize a brand-new scalable video monitor wall that has the ability to display up to 144 images.

According to Game Creek Video president Pat Sullivan, this is the first Game Creek standalone truck that has a sideways monitor wall.

The truck will be used on Bruins and Red Sox home games and select road games in the northeastern part of the country.

The Score Box Operator uses SMT (SportsMEDIA Technology) technology for live televised events on NESN.

The Graphics Operator uses a Chyron system for all on-screen graphics generation.

Evertz routing is at the core of the truck. The Evertz EQX Video router [432 x 1008] and the Evertz EMR Audio Router [ 5000x5000] move all of the signals throughout the compound. In addition, Evertz supplies 40 Up/Down/Cross converting Frame Syncs.
