SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jun. 6, 2018-- Today, Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com company (NASDAQ: AMZN), shared that thousands of enterprise customers are running SAP workloads on AWS -- with hundreds of those workloads in production. Businesses of all sizes and across virtually every industry and geography are running their SAP landscapes, including multiple production environments, on AWS to simplify infrastructure management, improve time-to-market, lower costs, and deliver innovation with AWS services integration.

AWS has been working with SAP since 2011 to enable customers to deploy and migrate their SAP applications to AWS, and has certified AWS for the vast majority of SAP applications available to customers today. In addition, AWS is working with SAP to power multiple SaaS services and offerings including SAP Concur, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Cloud Platform (SCP), and HANA Enterprise Cloud (HEC).

Sumitomo Chemical is a major Japanese chemical company founded in 1913 as a fertilizer manufacturing plant. After migrating our Japanese SAP ERP instance to AWS, it ran much faster than our on-premises environment. Job-processing time reduced by approximately 40 percent. Overall, the results far exceeded our expectations. Migrating to AWS also let us implement disaster-recovery solutions, which had been difficult with our on-premises environment. The work an IT department does changes with the times, and engineers need to change with it.
