8 Nominations for RT at 05 PPI Radio Awards

38 Nominations for RT at 2015 PPI Radio Awards RT has received a total of 38 nominations for this years PPI Radio Awards across all of its services, FM and digital radio.

RT Radio 1 has 23 programmes shortlisted in 16 categories spanning news and current affairs, entertainment, documentary, drama, music, sport and more.

RT 2fm programmes and presenters have been nominated in three categories: General Music Programme (The Nicky Byrne Show with Jenny Greene), Music Broadcaster of the Year (Rick O'Shea) and Sports Story of the Year (The Night the Lights Went Out, Game On 2fm).

On RT lyric fm, Liz Nolan has been shortlisted for Music Broadcaster of the Year and the station has received four other nominations for individual programmes and features.

RT Raidi na Gaeltachta presenters Eibhl n N Chonghaile and M ire-Br d N Chual in have been nominated in the prominent categories of Speech Broadcaster of the Year and Newcomer of the Year respectively.

Finally, RT Pulse, RT jr Radio and RT Radio 1 Extra have been recognised with four nominations that highlight the variety of innovative programming available across the five digital stations.

RT Radio 1 continues to provide thought-provoking content covering all aspects of Irish life with documentary, drama, entertainment, news and current affairs, sport and music programming on the station all being recognised. Music and sport come to the fore on RT 2fm with nominations for The Nicky Byrne Show with Jenny Greene, Rick O'Shea and Game On. RT lyric fm's nominations show that radio production really is an art form and the techniques and values that are applied to lyric's music programmes are second-to-none. For two RT Raidi na Gaeltachta presenters to be nominated for Speech Broadcaster of the Year and Newcomer of the Year awards in the same week that An Taoiseach Enda Kenny launches RT 's new strategic action plan for the Irish language cements the fact that communication as Gaeilge is as important and as relevant as ever before. And for the PPIs to recognise the talent and innovation of the new tranche of talented young broadcasters on RT Digital Radio to is a sure sign that the future of radio is in good hands.

The PPI Radio Awards this year received the largest ever number of entries in its history with an increase of 25% on 2014. The 2015 Awards will take place on Friday 9 October at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Galway.
