Highlights Include Industry's First True Converged Cable Access Platform, HEVC Compression, and Multiscreen Solutions At ANGA COM 2013, Hall 10.1, stand S10, Harmonic (NASDAQ: HLIT), the worldwide leader in video delivery infrastructure, will showcase a comprehensive range of video infrastructure solutions designed to optimize the production and delivery of high-value video services in the cable and multiscreen environment. A key highlight will be NSG Pro, the industry's first true Converged Cable Access Platform (CCAP). Harmonic will also feature recent enhancements, including next-generation HEVC support, to the award-winning ProMedia family of multiscreen solutions.

The Harmonic booth at ANGA COM 2013 will showcase video infrastructure solutions that have the performance, versatility, and reliability critical for supporting advanced cable and multiscreen services, said Nimrod Ben-Natan, senior vice president and general manager, edge business, at Harmonic. As cable operators migrate to an all-HD, all-IP, multiscreen infrastructure, we will demonstrate how Harmonic's solutions enable a very efficient and cost-effective migration.

Cable edge

The new NSG Pro CCAP solution, which offers high-density universal edgeQAM capabilities and an easy upgrade path to future integrated cable modem termination system (CMTS) capabilities, streamlining the transition to an all-IP infrastructure. Industry-leading QAM density and the ability to converge linear video, VOD, and data onto a single system helps cable operators transition smoothly to a full CCAP and an all-IP infrastructure, while minimizing operational expenses, power requirements, and rack space requirements.

Encoding and stream processing

A demonstration of the next-generation HEVC compression standard on Harmonic's ProMedia Xpress high-performance file-based transcoder. By providing up to 50 percent better compression efficiency than H.264, HEVC helps alleviate bandwidth constraints and enables the delivery of higher resolution video to multiple screens, from smartphones to large Ultra HD panels.

Enhancements to the ProMedia Suite of software and appliance solutions, including increased synergy with the Harmonic MediaGrid shared storage system, and support for closed captioning, regional blackouts, and Nielsen ID3 tagging.

In addition to the demonstrations, an industry expert from Harmonic is scheduled to speak at the ANGA COM 2013 Congress; Harmonic's Director of Pre-Sales and Solution Architecture David Whitehead will present Fundamental CCAP at the CCAP A Status Report technology panel, June 5, from 2:00-3:15 p.m.
