New Fujifilm state-of-the-art imaging system for Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Fujifilm is a pioneer in diagnostic imaging and information systems for healthcare, with a range of constantly evolving, clinically proven, products and technologies designed to assist medical professionals perform efficiently and effectively. The company has recently installed a state-of-the-art imaging system at Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Papworth Hospital is the largest specialist cardiothoracic hospital in the UK and includes the countrys main heart and lung transplant centre. Over the last three years, it has performed the highest number of heart surgery procedures in the UK whilst achieving the country's lowest cardiac surgery mortality rate.

The Hospital's services are internationally recognised and include cardiology, respiratory medicine, sleep medicine, cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery and heart & lung transplantation. Their recent installation of two Fujifilm FDR D-Evo Viewing Systems and Wireless FDR Go Flex Unit with FDR D-Evo C35i Flat Panel Detector & Laptop, were specifically selected to enable an upgrade from a CR mobile system to a DR compatible system.

The new system represents the latest technology, offering excellent image quality and the potential to reduce patient X-ray doses. In addition, it allows for a more rapid turnaround for critical care portable chest work, as images are available to the clinicians in a matter of seconds, supporting clinical decision making in a timely manner.

Carolyn Dyer, Radiology Manager at Papworth Hospital, commented on the new system: "In the Radiology Department we strive to achieve the highest quality diagnostic images for our patients. In the last couple of years we have experienced a rapid expansion in the number of patients we see in the critical care environment. To accommodate that increase and ensure continued high quality imaging, with digital technology, we have taken delivery of Fujifilm's Go Flex system."
