Valerie Immele has been elevated to Senior Vice President of Business, Turner Sports, adding oversight of the marketing and ad sales strategic planning teams to her existing responsibilities leading strategy, programming acquisitions and business development on behalf of the division. Immele will continue to report to Matt Hong, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Turner Sports.
Val has played a vital role in guiding Turner Sports' strategy to align with premium sports content that resonates with fans and the way in which they consume content, while also bringing considerable value to our league and business partners, says Hong. Her many contributions to both our long-term planning and day-to-day implementation have been a major factor in our division's continued success, and I'm confident she will continue to thrive in this expanded role.
Immele has been a key member of Turner Sports' senior leadership team that has secured long-term, cross-platform TV and digital rights agreements with the NBA, NCAA, MLB and PGA of America. She also helped lead the creation of Turner's partnership with WME | IMG to form ELEAGUE, the professional eSports league set to debut in Summer 2016, among other business deals.
She will now additionally lead the team responsible for the strategic brand vision and marketing of Turner Sports' TV and digital sports properties. The division's New York-based ad sales strategic planning team responsible for forecasting, pricing and inventory management of sponsorship and advertising sales for Turner Sports' properties will report into Immele going forward as well.
Immele joined Turner Sports in 1997 as a staff accountant, and held various roles of increasing responsibility on the accounting, finance, and strategy and business development teams, prior to being promoted to vice president of strategy and acquisitions in 2012.
A graduate of the University of West Georgia with a bachelor's degree in business administration, Immele resides in Atlanta.
