Musician Kelly Khumalo, has left event organisers fuming after she left without performing after she was paid in full in Botswana on 17 December.

According to Zimoja, the mother of two was slated to headline the Jazz Mu Toropo Festival in Francistown, Botswana but she stormed of because of the bad sound.

EVENT NOT PROMOTED ENOUGH The event was apparently not like the many shows Kelly is used to in South Africa because the venue was not packed and according to Zimoja, it seemed like the organisers did not spend money on promoting the show. The stadium allegedly had security guards, a few fans who had showed up to watch her and another artists from Botswana.

One of the sources that spoke to the publication said, the turnout was disappointing as organisers did not invest enough money on promoting the show in local and mainstream media. Daniel Diamond who is part of the organizing teams at BanaBana Bantongwa (BBB) is allegedly not happy about Kelly walking off stage .

Kelly's manager Nthabiseng said that the expectant mother did her part in making sure that her fans in Botswana are aware that she was coming.

The organisers are said to have asked Kelly to do a promotional video where she would commit to performing in Francistown and she did the video.

She duly did the video and it was posted online as a guarantee for the sake of Botswana music that Kelly was indeed performing on 17 December However, the organizers are alleged to have hired a substandard sound system, the publication said.

The event was allegedly a big flop and now organisers want to sue the mother of two. Images via Instagram: @kellykhumaloza KELLY THREATNED WITH LEGAL ACTION Another source revealed that the problem started when Kelly wanted to do the soundcheck and when she realised that the sound was not up to standard, she is said to have spoken to the hosts about their sound.

She is alleged to have stayed for more than an hour trying to make it work but she ended up telling the organises that she will not be performing.

Things didn't fall into place, and we had no alternative, but to warn the organizers that we were not performing anymore, Nthabiseng said.

The manager also added that Kelly has been subjected to a insults and threatening voice notes.

She was swearing at me and threatened to sue Kelly for non-performance. We will await their summons because Kelly did all she could by promoting the event. It is not part of our problem that they hired a sub-standard sound system, Nthabiseng said.
