Kaizer Chiefs youngster Frosler hopes to thrive in Soweto derby cauldron

Kaizer Chiefs brought Reeve Frosler in on deadline day in a three-year deal ending a long term contract dispute between the player and former club Bidvest Wits.

Frosler made eleven appearances in his debut season for Wits in 2017 when the Braamfontein club won their maiden PSL title.

The player says that the atmosphere of a Soweto derby is something he hopes to savour, the winger feels that he has matured as a player and would not be overawed by the occasion should coach Ernst Middendorp toss him into the fray against their biggest rivals.

Frosler told Kaizer Chiefs official website: The atmosphere was electrifying, the crowd really gets the players going. It was something magnificent to see. When I saw the game then I was a bit scared about the thought of playing in a Soweto Derby I was, however, still very young at the time. I have matured a lot since, and I would like to know now how it feels to play in a game of that magnitude.

Karabo Molefe is just sixteen but the club believe that he will bolster their strength in depth, even with Itumeleng Khune out injured the young keeper is effectively fifth on the pecking order.

Football manager Bobby Motaung said in a statement: Apart from Mashiane, we are excited to announce the promotion of another goalkeeper Karabo Molefe. Karabo is only 16-years-old but has done well in the development team.

With his height and talent, we believe he will be one to watch for the future as he also has an advantage of learning from all the experienced top goalkeepers we have in the team.

We have a fairly young side and we've added more young talent, which will inject more young energy in the squad.

Chiefs will be hoping that Nigerian international Daniel Akpeyi, also brought in on deadline day can resolve their goalkeeping crisis after a string of unconvincing performances by Virgil Vries.
