CRYSTAL VISION SHOWS A KEYER FOR EVERY APPLICATION PLUS DOLBY ENCODING AND DECODING AT IBC 2013 (STAND 2.B11) 14 Aug 2013
At IBC 2013 Crystal Vision will be showing a keyer for every application on Stand 2.B11. Designed for virtual studios and sports graphics, the Safire 3 real-time chroma keyer uses a sophisticated algorithm and numerous key processing options including built in colour correction and video delay to produce the best possible chroma key with easy operation from the dedicated touch screen control panel. Designed for station branding with storage for up to 500 graphics, the new MultiLogo logo keyers audio capabilities make it ideal for applications where both graphics and audio need to be added to a video signal, with partial presets additionally facilitating live operation. Completing the trio is the LKEY 3 linear keyer which is designed for the simple keying of any graphics. Crystal Vision has also improved the ways to access the audio metadata when encoding and decoding Dolby E using the TANDEM 310 embedder/de-embedder and SYNNER 310 synchroniser, including SMPTE 2020 embedding and de-embedding.
The recently-shipping Safire 3 real-time chroma keyer works with 3Gb/s, HD and SD sources and is ideal for all live virtual productions from studio to sport. Safire 3 makes it easy to quickly set up a chroma key using multi-point sampling to automatically get the best possible default settings, and features an extensive range of fine-tuning tools to optimise the picture including various filters, edge shaping, colour correction, colour spill processing and lighting compensation. A frame synchroniser on each input will automatically correct any timing errors, while up to ten frames of video delay adjustment can be used to offset the delay caused by the graphics generators. Including relay bypass protection, Safire 3 forms part of a space-saving modular system, with this 100mm x 266mm module allowing up to 12 chroma keyers or other boards in 2U.
IBC visitors will get the chance to operate Safire 3 using the Safire 3 Controller, with this stylish 3U Ethernet control panel shipping for the first time in September and with the large eight inch touch screen and physical controls perfect for live use. The Safire 3 Controller uses a combination of hard buttons which provide quick access to the chroma keyer being controlled and preset recall and soft buttons on the touch screen which are used in conjunction with physical knobs to access the various intuitive setup menus. Designed to be the primary platform for configuring the Safire 3, the Safire 3 Controller can sit on a desk stand, be fitted into a desk or be rack mounted. Also available will be a web browser interface where the contents of the Safire 3 Controller display are shown on a web browser instead ideal for those who prefer PC control for Safire 3.
The second new modular keyer being demonstrated on the Crystal Vision stand at IBC will be the MultiLogo HD/SD three-layer logo keyer. MultiLogo provides three layers of keying from a variety of internal and external sources, including a 4 GB or 8 GB video store which can hold up to 500 still or animated logos, with the included MultiLogo Control Software making it easy to get graphics on the screen within a few minutes. The multitude of features include numerous key processing controls, look-ahead preview, clip recording and trimming, Quick Text, the ability to store 255 presets with preset naming and import/export, relay bypass protection and the ability to lock the output to an analogue reference to avoid transmission problems.
The big new feature introduced in this version of MultiLogo is the extensive audio capabilities. It can embed up to four audio groups into its video outputs, with audio mixing allowing the output audio to be generated from a mix of the audio embedded on the video input and a voiceover sourced from either the two internal audio stores or from an external AES input. The voiceover can be faded in and out and have its level adjusted, while the main audio can be partially or fully ducked allowing it to be either mixed with or be replaced by the voiceover. Two external AES outputs are additionally available for audio monitoring.
Partial presets is the second new feature making this version of MultiLogo ideal for on air operation. Presets allow the performance of complex events using a single remote instruction. The advantage of a partial preset is that it makes it possible to change just one variable and leave the others unchanged ideal for those who are using all three key layers and want to change the logo on one. The latest MultiLogo also offers more control options than previous versions, with operation now additionally available from the REMIND-E Ethernet remote control panel and the frames integrated control panel.
The third new keyer is LKEY 3 an affordable, feature-packed and space-saving linear keyer designed for the simple keying of any graphics over 3Gb/s, HD or SD video streams. LKEY 3 brings with it a number of new features appearing on a Crystal Vision linear keyer for the first time. It is the companys first 3Gb/s-compatible linear keyer, features a frame synchroniser on each input timed to an external Black and Burst or tri-level syncs analogue reference (removing the previous requirement to lock the inputs to within one line of each another) and also includes an additional ten frames of video delay on each input ideal for matching any big system processing delays. It includes masks with adjustable edge softness, fades, relay bypass protection and a choice of control, including the most flexible GPI control yet. Its size as a 100mm x 266mm module also makes it ideal for multi-channel keying applications, with the potential to fit 12 linear keyers in 2U.
Crystal Vision will also be showing its new audio metadata handling featu
