The legendary Walter Murch visits Madrid to give a seminar at the ECAM Winner of three Oscars and more than thirty years of experience, Murch is considered one of the most prestigious sound editors in the global film industry with basic titles to his credit of cinema as Apocalypse Now, The English patient or The Godfather.

The winner of three Oscars, Walter Murch will visit Madrid to teach a seminar on intensive and advanced at the Madrid school, ECAM. Murch is probably the most outstanding figure of international film Assembly. His work as editor, designer of sound, restorative or theoretical have made it one of the most respected professionals in the industry worldwide.

With the aim of offering creative tools to Spanish students, Murch taught two days a seminar that will be held during the 5th and 6th of may at the ECAM. The seminar is part of the educational offer of continuing education which has recently launched the school and is directed to professionals and students of film and audiovisual who want to innovate in his narrative work and incorporate new methodologies. Attendees will benefit from simultaneous translation for a better use of the offered contents.

In addition, students and teachers of the school be able to attend the masterclass Apocalypse Now, the sleep of reason Thursday, may 4 at 5: 30 in the afternoon.

Walter Murch: a legend of the cinema

With over 30 years of experience, Walter Murch is a unique professional in the global film industry, since it has always combined the office of editor work in the sound Department, either as designer, mixer, or editor. In 1997, he became the first person to win two Oscars best editing and best sound for his work on the film The English patient (A. Minghella). Seventeen years earlier, Murch had won with Apocalypse Now (F. Coppola) the Oscar for the best sound.

Murch is the picture editor of The Godfather: Part III (F. Coppola) and K-19: The Widowmaker (K. Bigelow) and basics of film sound editor such as American Graffiti (George Lucas) or The Godfather: Part II (F. Coppola).

His book At the time of the flicker (2001) is one of the most important works written about theory of film Assembly, a book that introduces the famous rule of the six. Another of the fundamental books of the theory of the mounting is Conversations: Walter Murch and the art of Assembly of Michael Ondaatje, another piece of header for any editor and sound professional.

Also highlighted his work on restoration and reassembly of movies as Evil thirst (Orson Welles) in 1998 and extended version of Apocalypse Now (F. Coppola).
