SA film and TV industry takes a stand to promote a global warning --

After the successful launch of the Dance Of The Butterfly Event in Hollywood in March 2016 in Santa Monica, California, the Dance of The Butterfly event which screens the Forever Changed documentary (produced and directed by The African Motion Picture Company), hosted by Sandton based Black and Burst Post Productions, took place on Sunday 26 June 2016 at the Palazzo Hotel, Montecasino in Fourways. The audience was an eclectic mix of TV and film producers and directors, advertising agencies, production companies, members of the media, health enthusiasts, care givers and cancer warriors.

The Forever Changed Global Awareness Campaign, which launched in October 2014, encourages the understanding that there are alternative treatment options for those who are newly diagnosed. The campaign has gained a global following over the past 18 months and it took Addi 12 months to complete the Forever Changed Documentary which is a roadmap for those who are newly diagnosed with cancer and their caregivers. The next chapter for Addi is no longer about the terror and problems that she personally encountered, but is about the butterfly effect that is spreading by ambassadors, followers and supporters around the world who understand the message of Service Above Self.

The celebrity emcee was Paulinah Somo, best known as the traffic reporter and overnight talk show host on talk radio 702. Somo is currently also the producer of music variety show, Fanbase on SABC 1.

TV producer Karen MacDonald, owner of Black And Burst Post Productions chose to host this innovative event and says: As a proud ambassador, I fully support the Forever Changed Global Awareness Campaign that Addi Lang has created, as she is not only a colleague, but a valued casting agent in the TV and Film Industry in South Africa. Having seen the long awaited Forever Changed documentary, I can wholeheartedly say that it is very powerful and urge everyone to see this film to absorb this life-changing message. The public will be empowered as this is not only a message of life after diagnosis, but is a message of hope and a reminder of the choice that we all have in how we live our lives. I am pleased to be a part of the small TV and film community in South Africa that has stepped up to promote the Forever Changed Global Awareness Campaign as we have of late, all been touched by the loss of loved ones and friends, especially in this industry. We have chosen to donate proceeds for this event to the SA Guide Dogs Association.

The guest speaker was Addi Lang herself who read her foreword that she wrote in Carl J. De Wet s book Dance of The Butterfly, which is also a helpful tool to deal with emotions during the cancer journey. The feeling that no matter what happens in life, there is always free will and choice. You have chosen to attend this event and read this book, which is all a part of the butterfly effect. This butterfly effect is the reason that I started the Forever Changed Global Awareness Campaign. To offer a global warning and to create a stirring deep inside of you that rattles you to your core. To remind you to avoid apathy and to live life deliberately. The campaign is not simply a story of events that may lead to my demise but rather, how you choose to live your life.

A Q&A session followed in which Lang explained that she works closely with Doctor Carel aka The Cancer Coach , who is based in Johannesburg and has affiliates around the country. A list of the warriors and cancer coaches who were interviewed in the documentary can also be found on the website.
