ScreenSkills suggests production spend on film and HETV is likely to hit between £7.07 billion and £7.66 billion by 2025

ScreenSkills has published its forecast of the skills and training requirements of the UK's High-End TV (HETV) and film production sector.
As the sector continues to boom, with new studios or studio extensions being announced on an almost monthly basis, ScreenSkills suggests production spend on film and HETV is likely to hit between £7.07 billion and £7.66 billion by 2025.
However, to meet those figures the industry needs between 15,130 and 20,770 additional crew needed to meet demand.
It adds that between £95 and £104 million will be needed annually by 2025 to train the film and HETV workforce, including both existing and the new recruits.
The indirect and induced impact of training investment in the order of £104.3 million would go a long way to creating a further 23,270 full-time jobs across the UK economy on top of the additional 20,770 crew, states the report. Latest figures show film and high-end television currently generates the equivalent of 122,000 full-time jobs, it added.
The report also found that just under 2.7 million square feet of additional stage space is due to come online by 2025. That compares to a study by global real estate agency Knight Frank earlier this year that said the UK needs another 6 million sq ft of production space by 2026 in order to meet demand.
