The Bioscope Independent Cinema features classics, festivals and workshops in April --

On 13 April at 19h00 the Bioscope Independent Cinema in Johannesburg will screen the Walt Disney classic Mary Poppins. The 1964 musical tells the story of a nanny with magical qualities, who cares for and uplifts a bankers unhappy family.
Tickets for the signature event are priced at R20 and all Film Society Card Holders will be allowed to attend for free.
Inspired and breath-taking trail running productions from around the world will be showcased at the Trails in Motion Film Festival, which takes place at the Bioscope from 8 to 11 April. Programme One will screen at 19h00 on 8 and 9 April while Programme Two will screen at 19h00 on 7 and 9 April.
For those who would like to experience the true spirit of trail running and connect with others who share an interest in it, the festival features a variety of high quality short films and documentaries on the genre.
Tickets granting access for both nights will cost R200, or R120 for just one night.
On 13 April at 17h00, German filmmakers Antje Ehmann and Harun Farocki will present a series of two- to three-minute short films, produced by young filmmakers, which explore themes of work and labour. The films are a result of a workshop hosted by the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg from 29 March to 11 April 2014.
In addition to this, short films from the Labour in a Single Shot project from other world cities, as well as Harun Farocki s 2009 film, In Comparison, will screen at 19h00 on 12 April.
