CBC Supports DPS Foundation with Three-Year Grant

CBC hosted a breakfast for the Durham Public Schools Foundation on Tuesday, May 14, 2019. ATC's Michael Goodmon (4th from right) took part in the event.

Capitol Broadcasting believes in the importance of public schools and recently committed to contributing $20,000 per year for three years to the newly formed Durham Public Schools Foundation.

We are excited about the Foundation work (a foundation that is separate from DPS and has its own board) as schools are central to the quality of life in Durham, issues of equity, and the long-term success of our economy, said ATC Development Director Mark Stanford, who serves on that Foundation Board.

Stanford said they invited a set of business leaders from around Durham to share about our contribution and encourage others to join in support.

The DPS Foundation is excited to announce that Capitol Broadcasting, CT Wilson construction and Rho Inc. are making multi-year funding commitments that will go toward innovative and equitable strategies across Durham Public Schools. We had a great conversation this morning hosted by American Underground with business leaders about how ensuring we have public schools where every student can thrive is both a moral and an economic imperative for our community. Over the next three years these Durham businesses will collectively contribute over $120,000 to support our schools. They are also paving the way for corporate leadership making investments in public education in Durham. We look forward to continuing to build our business partnerships that are critical to supporting our schools.

A number of DPS grads now work at Capitol Broadcasting including American Underground GM Molly Demarest, AU Director of Marketing Justin Laidlaw and AU Director of Administration Garry Lyon.
