SGL Brings new integrated cloud archiving and flashnet infinity dashboard to BroadcastAsia 07

Singapore, Broadcast Asia, Booth 6J2-03 - 23rd May 2017 - SGL, a leading provider of content archive and storage management software for media and entertainment, is showcasing its new version of FlashNet at Broadcast Asia 2017 on booth 6J2-03. This includes support for integrated Amazon cloud archiving, S3-based object storage-based private cloud archiving and Sony's Ci Media Cloud Platform. SGL's close relationship with cloud solution companies provides the media industry with new workflows and stronger tools. This not only ensures that assets are sent to the correct place but also delivers a way for broadcasters to control storage costs by working out the price to store and retrieve assets to and from the cloud.

Central to SGL's support for public and private cloud is the ability to manage and monitor the buckets and tiers into which assets can be stored. FlashNet's powerful lifecycle rules engine easily moves assets between various platforms and storage areas, treating each as simply another storage destination. In addition, FlashNet receives notifications about the arrival of assets into the cloud archive from other sources along with information regarding the removal or deletion of assets within the archive using third-party tools. This enables FlashNet to offer effective management of cloud-based archival storage regardless of the workflows in use.

Throughout the show, SGL will demonstrate the latest developments to its FlashNet Infinity archive control centre. Providing media companies with an elegant dashboard that simplifies the management of media archives, Infinity delivers a sophisticated toolset for archive and restore functionality, system health, monitoring, analysis and more. New features include: Navigator tool to explore the entire set of archived assets in their original folder format; support for watch folder projects; advanced metadata support; and capacity analysis. FlashNet is available as a free upgrade to all SGL FlashNet users covered by a current support contract who are running FlashNet 6.7 or later.

SGL is also fully integrated with Sony's Optical Disk Archive System (ODS) version 2. The integration gives SGL users access to a greater choice of storage devices in DR, production, news and sports workflows. SGL FlashNet allows Sonys ODS users to store valuable media safely with ease. With SGL's experience of managing multiple storage devices within production, news and sport, Sony's ODS can sit anywhere within a workflow, not simply as an end of process' archive.

We recently launched the latest version of FlashNet, which follows our major FlashNet Infinity launch last year and features a number of sophisticated tools that further assist broadcasters and content owners with their archive requirements.
