Voonami Helps Enterprises Transition from Private Cloud to Hybrid Cloud with VMware Network Virtualization Network Virtualization Helps Simplify the Provisioning and Replication of Complex Application Environments PALO ALTO, Calif., May 29, 2013 VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), the global leader in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, today announced Voonami, Inc., is using VMware network virtualization to help enterprise customers transition from private clouds to hybrid clouds. VMware network virtualization enables Voonami to make applications and networks portable for customers by simplifying the creation of complex environments in one data center. These environments can then be programmatically replicated multiple times in other data centers without having to touch the underlying physical network infrastructure. This capability helps Voonami provide customers greater flexibility in choosing between public, private and hybrid cloud models.

With our existing infrastructure, moving applications around and deploying new applications can be costly and time consuming, said Ben Bush, president, Voonami. To meet the speed and agility requirements of our customers, we deployed network virtualization to decouple the network from the underlying physical infrastructure. Now we can instantly and programmatically create complex multi-tier application architectures. In our experience, there was no other way for us to accomplish this without network virtualization.

Voonami offers services ranging from traditional co-location services to fully hosted, managed cloud applications. The ability to streamline the setup and replication of application environments has proven to be a key differentiator for the company. Often, customers could not easily replicate their production environment in their staging and development environments. Voonami is now able to create one self-contained environment that uses network virtualization to connect virtualized web servers, app servers, database servers, remote access and VPNs that all tie back into an application. This fully virtualized application environment is then mirrored in three different instances for DevOps, staging and production. This process takes minutes or hours rather than the days and weeks it would take to deploy these scenarios physically.
