Reckling Park, on the campus of Rice University in Houston, TX, is receiving a new 1,000-square-foot LED video display from Daktronics to entertain and inform Owl's baseball fans in 2017. The project extends a partnership between Rice University and Daktronics that includes a significant upgrade for football this past fall.
Our fans are important to us, and we are happy to enhance their experience with a new video board from Daktronics, says Rice University Director of Athletics Joe Karlgaard. Thank you to the university, Judy Allen and Audrey Ley, and the RBI Club for making this critical investment in Reckling Park.
The new right-field display will measure approximately 21.5 feet high by 47 feet wide and feature a 15HD pixel layout to provide crisp, clear imagery with wide angle visibility to every seat in Reckling Park. The display comes complete with protective netting and advertising panels to represent Rice's sponsors throughout events.
Capable of variable content zoning, the display can show one large image or can present viewers with multiple windows of content such as live video, instant replays, graphics and animations, special announcements, and other event information.
We're grateful to continue our long-standing partnership with Rice University through this new project for Owl's baseball at Reckling Park, says Dan Fjeldheim, Daktronics sales representative. This installation will bring an amazing video experience to events at Reckling Park, and we're looking forward to expanding Rice's display inventory as they continue to raise the bar for the fan experience at live events on their campus.
Daktronics Creative Services will also be providing a content package of graphics and animations at the request of the university to bring the new display to life.
