Rohde & Schwarz showcases highlights ranging from ingest to playout to transmitters and T&M equipment

Rohde & Schwarz will present its latest product portfolio under the motto Each frame counts at this years IBC 2016 in Amsterdam, which will be held from September 9 to 13. The high product quality ensures error-free transmission of each and every frame - from ingest and mastering to encoding and monitoring to broadcast and T&M equipment for high-definition formats such as 4K. The solutions from Rohde & Schwarz support the latest technologies and formats, such as IMF, HDR and HFR. The broadcast and media specialist will showcase its solutions in hall 7, booth E25.

Solutions for broadcast workflows

Rohde & Schwarz has expanded its R&S VENICE ingest and playout platform to include the R&S VENICE Control application. R&S VENICE Control is ingest software for controlling complex multicamera recordings. It makes it possible to record up to 16 independent channels.

The latest Release 6.1 of the R&S CLIPSTER mastering station focuses on HDR, expanded color scales, HFR and localization workflows. For localization, R&S CLIPSTER provides IMF subtitling and basic compositing. Floating point processing and color depth ensure highly precise conversion within the brightness range, essential for HDR mastering workflows.

R&S PRIOS IP is a new member of the Rohde & Schwarz family of video boards. It is designed for OEM customers from all areas of professional video and digital film technology. In addition to the conventional SDI interfaces, the board also provides 10 G Ethernet support for video over IP.

Encoding, multiplexing and broadcast equipment for every need The R&S AVHE100 headend from Rohde & Schwarz offers exceptional picture quality for UHD and HD HEVC encoding, even at reduced data rates. To provide viewers with breathtaking visual effects, the Rohde & Schwarz solution enriches the transport stream with HDR ancillary data. The SPTS function meets the requirements for a pure encoder exchange and is intended for the IPTV market.

At the trade show, Rohde & Schwarz will also present its newest transmitter solutions, which can significantly reduce cost of ownership. The new generation of transmitters combines factors such as exceptional energy efficiency, extremely compact design and an innovative redundancy concept. All designed to simplify the lives of network operators.

The BMM-810 platform from Rohde & Schwarz subsidiary GMIT includes a proven A/V multiviewer and monitoring solution for broadcast and OTT streaming. Building on this product, the company will present a technology study with innovative extensions for IP-based, mezzanine media transmission formats for playout/contribution.

T&M equipment for the latest standards

The company presents solutions for the latest satellite standards, especially for broadcast and professional services, including IP-based services. The test setups based on the R&S BTC broadcast test center and the R&S SMW high-end signal generator are used in particular for performance testing of DVB-S2/S2X signals. The booth will also feature the R&S SLG satellite load generator for channel bonding and single-carrier or multicarrier signal generation. It is equipped with the most recent modifications and extensions of the ISDB-S2 intermediate frequency band up to 3225 MHz.

The solutions from the broadcast and media specialist are available for viewing from September 9 to 13, 2016, at IBC in Amsterdam, hall 7, booth E25.
