(19/12/2014) During these last weeks, Canal France tested X10 UHD, combined with an EVS XT3 server and the EVS Epsio Zoom solution to experiment the new creativity opportunities provided by 4K ultra motion in both high-speed and continuous modes.
Canal France discovered the capabilities of the I-MOVIX solution in differing production setups (i.e., indoor, outdoor, in daylight or night conditions), and explored the creative potential of this new tool for various kinds of sports.
We had the opportunity to use the X10 UHD ultra slow motion camera of I-MOVIX in 4K and in HD in continuous mode, during several sports events covered by Canal , ranging from football to rugby through basketball. This allowed us to vary both the setup and production conditions, and we realized the high operational flexibility of this ultra slow motion system. The outstanding image quality and flexibility of the X10 UHD system make it a high value-added production tool, unleashing the creativity of our production teams, said Fran ois-Charles Bideaux, Directeur de la Production des Sports du Groupe Canal France.
The X10 UHD 4K ultra slow motion system developed by I-MOVIX has once again demonstrated its added value both in terms of image quality and systems operability, in both HD and 4K image resolutions and in ultra slow motion as well as super slow motion continuous modes.
The combination of the X10 UHD and the Epsio Zoom solution from EVS provides exceptionally beautiful and detailed downscaled HD pictures. It can also be used for zooming in without losing HD image quality.
Combining the core X10 ultra-motion technology with Vision Researchs Phantom Flex4K camera, the I-MOVIX X10 UHD supports operation in a range of modes to meet differing production requirements, and can be instantly re-configured for new 4K or HD shooting scenarios.
For very high-frame rate ultra-slow motion in 4K sports coverage, the system operates in USM mode to deliver instant replays of up to 1,000fps. For continuous non-stop recording, SSM mode delivers up to 120fps at 2160p60. When operating in HD resolutions (1080p or 1080i) X10 UHD offers up to 600fps in continuous SSM mode, and up to 2,000fps in USM mode. The system can also complement these specialized applications by performing in a conventional live camera role.
