Wyandotte Municipal Services (WMS), a municipal non-profit service provider, has successfully deployed Synamedia Gravity, a cloud-based device management and service orchestration platform, to upgrade and scale its residential and small-to-medium business (SMB) broadband offerings. WMS, a non-profit utility serving the city of Wyandotte, Michigan for over 100 years, replaced its legacy platform with Synamedia Gravity to minimize dependency on proprietary hardware and increase optionality for future device and service upgrades.
This milestone marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of Synamedia Gravity, as it expands beyond its initial SMB deployments into the broader residential broadband market. The deployment at WMS executed in partnership with Advanced Media Technologies (AMT) and Heights Telecom underscores Synamedia Gravity's positioning as a flexible, open, and scalable platform designed to meet the needs of modern broadband providers. Synamedia Gravity's vendor-agnostic design enables WMS to manage both legacy and next-generation devices and advanced services through a single pane of glass, thereby reducing operational complexity and accelerating the time-to-market for new services.
We wanted to provide our residential and SMB customers with advanced, future-ready technology and the flexibility to support a wide range of devices, said Tonya Thompson, Lead Communications Specialist at WMS. What set Synamedia Gravity apart was their open architecture, which allowed us to customize both our backend infrastructure and the customer experience. As a smaller MSO, we didn't want a one-size-fits-all solution we needed flexibility, interoperability, and a partner who valued our input. With Synamedia Gravity, we were able to integrate seamlessly with multiple systems while maintaining full control over how our services evolve.
Synamedia Gravity offers broadband, municipal, and utility providers a cloud-based, vendor-agnostic platform for managing CPE devices and service management across fiber, DOCSIS, and fixed wireless networks. With centralized provisioning, remote diagnostics, and flexible pay-as-you-grow pricing, Gravity streamlines operations, reduces support costs, and accelerates service delivery. For residential and SMB subscribers, it delivers intuitive self-service tools for installation, setup, and troubleshooting, thereby eliminating delays and reducing the need for technician visits. Beyond core device management, Synamedia Gravity enables providers to launch advanced services, including managed Wi-Fi, parental controls, content filtering, and enhanced security. Its open architecture ensures seamless integration across multi-vendor environments and future-proofing networks as subscriber needs evolve.

The Synamedia Gravity implementation was completed on July 1, replacing WMS s proprietary closed system with a scalable SaaS platform. Gravity now serves as the primary platform for both new service activations and existing customers migrating to its next-gen gateway and extenders.
