Sir David Attenborough has said the BBC must change if it is to compete with the rise of streaming services.

In an interview with Deadline.com, the veteran broadcaster said the Corporation must change the way it operates if it was to compete with Netflix and Amazon for audiences and creative talent.

Streaming has transformed the market place, and for any broadcaster to survive, it's going to have to reflect that, said Attenborough. That may mean, particularly when you've been as good at it as the BBC has been, that they have to change the game in order to keep up with things.

Attenborough said it was a relief that BBC director general Tony Hall is addressing the issue following the recent announcement that iPlayer will be revamped in 2020.
