CeBIT 2014: Samsung Says Consumerisation of IT will go "Professional" on Mar 10, 2014 Consumer devices have to be enterprise-ready, while companies have to adopt leading-edge consumer technologies to survive during the second phase of the Consumerisation of IT
Samsung will help companies get ready for the second phase of the Consumerisation of IT , so that they can use technology that takes their business model to the next level, promised SP Kim, Executive Vice President of Global Marketing and the Global B2B Centre at Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd, during his keynote speech at CeBIT 2014 in Hannover, Germany.
Kim said that Samsung will provide companies with a New Business Experience, which brings together two key technology trends:
Consumer devices now have to offer not just the benefit of better technology, but have to be professional, with enterprise-strength security and reliability out of the box
Enterprise technology, meanwhile, has to be designed for humans - both easy to use and focused on delivering better service or solutions for customers.
Samsung is rapidly expanding its presence in the B2B sector. This year, the company is dedicating all of its CeBIT presence to products and solutions for business, at a stand that is more than double the size of the previous year. Samsung will focus on the five most important verticals in the German B2B market: Retail, Education, Healthcare, Financial Services and Government.
Samsung is collaborating closely with a broad ecosystem of B2B partners, and its stand at CeBIT will feature sector-specific solutions from companies like ITractive, More Success Marketing, Control Systems, RedNet, Ringdale, SAP, sc synergy, Fiducia, Softpro, T-Systems, Adversign, Schiffl and Zalando.
Samsung is one of the few companies capable of combining its track record as a global leader in consumer electronics with a focus on relentless innovation and technology excellence in the B2B sector, said Kim, who highlighted that more than a quarter of Samsung staff work in Research & Development.
He said Samsung is bringing its three core values to the B2B sector: technology convergence, trusted partnerships and speed to market.
We are bringing a sense of urgency to the B2B sector, because we want to succeed, and - more importantly - we want our customers to succeed, said Kim.
Printing Solutions for SMBs
Samsung announced at CeBIT that it is further expanding its line-up of NFC-enabled printers for secure and mobile printing, with a range of solutions specifically tailored for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses. As part of this strategy Samsung is also launching a cloud-based printing service that combines ease-of-use with the advanced security of Samsung's KNOX platform.
Mobile Device Security
Samsung is showcasing the latest version of its KNOX security platform for Android devices. Since KNOX became commercially available in October 2013, Samsung has sold more than 25 million KNOX-enabled devices, and has over 1 million active KNOX users today. The latest version of KNOX adds important security features - from TrustZone-Protected Certificate Management, which turns the phone into a smart card, to Two-factor Biometric Authentication.
Healthcare
Samsung injects much needed mobility and convergence into the medical devices sector, from its Hello Mum feature for ultra-sound machines that allows pregnant women share 3D scans with their family, to mobile EMR and integrated MIS solutions.
Retail
To compete with the online world, brick-and-mortar retailers have to provide a shopping experience that is not only visually outstanding - with video walls and transparent displays, but also offers customers an integrated omni-channel experience with tablet check-out points and a digital mirror, where customers can try on and experience new clothes without ever having to go to the changing rooms.
Education
Computers should not be in the classroom to learn about computing, but to transform the learning experience - whether it is with integrated solutions like Samsung School, the interactive Whiteboard, or secure printing and Samsung's highly successful line of Chromebooks.
Financial Services
Security and customer service are the considerations at the heart of Samsung's business solutions for the financial services industry - from digital signage and secure signature solutions to secure pull-print systems and Cloud Display solutions
Government
Government services have to go digital to meet the needs of their citizens - whether they are digital natives or rapidly adopting the digital world. Samsung offers governments and their agencies a broad range of solutions, from secure mobile platforms like Samsung KNOX - which has US Department of Defense security certification - to Thin Client systems, efficient Follow-me printing and Digital Signage and more.
