With their decision for Arvato Systems, Ursapharm paves the way for their implementation of pharmaceutical industry global serialization requirements.

The international importance of the issue of drug security has increased from both an industry and a political point of view. EU delegated regulations stipulate that from Feb 9, 2019 all prescribed medicines may only be sold when packaging has unique serial number. Other countries, such as the USA, already have similar legislation in place, while important markets such as China and Turkey are in the process of implementing directives in this area. The common goal is to prevent counterfeit drugs from entering the legal supply chain.

Ursapharm has decided to respond to the upcoming challenges by implementing Arvato Systems' complete IT solution. The Arvato Corporate Serialization Database, Arvato CSDB encompasses the complete pharmaceutical manufacturing process: generating and managing serial numbers, communicating with the production lines and registering numbers into the national verification system.
