More Tamil shows to premiere on Astro this New Year

All Astro customers can celebrate upcoming New Year with an exciting range of local and international premiering Tamil shows.

Marc Lourdes, Vice President, Indian Channel Business, Astro, said, We look forward to celebrating the New Year with our customers and hope they enjoy this fresh slate of high-quality local and international entertainment. From a New Year's concert featuring some of the biggest local artistes, to a new local comedy horror series, and a new pop-up channel featuring popular movies from one of India's greatest actors, Kamal Haasan, we continue to present our customers with new, compelling content choices. We look forward to an exciting year together and thank our customers for their continuous support.

To kick off the New Year, all customers can enjoy Kamal Haasan (CH 242), a new pop-up channel from 1 to 31 January 2021, featuring seventy popular and well-loved Kamal Haasan films including 16 Vayathinile, Moondram Pirai, Gunaa, Avvai Shanmughi, Hey Ram, Anbe Sivam, Vasool Raja MBBS, Dasavathaaram, Unnai Pol Oruvan, Viswaroopam 1 & 2, Papanasam and more. Customers can also catch a range of popular songs and hilarious comedy clips from Kamal Haasan movies on Kamal Haasan (CH 242).

Adding on to the New Year's celebrations, customers can enjoy Therikka Vidalama, a three hour local New Year's concert packed with exhilarating performances from renowned local artistes including Yogi B, Rabbit Mac, Emcee Jaz, Havoc Brothers, Santesh, Siddarth and more. This vibrant local concert is directed by popular filmmaker Dev Rajah, known for recent Deepavali specials, Anbukku Naan Adimai and Deepavali Pokkisham. Therikka Vidalama premieres on 1 January at 9pm on Astro Vinmeen HD (CH 231) via TV, Astro GO and On Demand.

All Astro customers can also enjoy premiering comedy horror series, Serial Pei, directed by renowned filmmaker, M.S. Prem Nath, who was behind Vere Vazhi Ille, Rise: Ini Kalilah and Irul Ghost Hotel. This 20-episode gripping and hilarious series will feature popular local talents including RAAGA announcers along with other popular local talents including Punnagai Poo' Geetha, James Devan, Sasi Kumar, Kavimaran, Revathy, Naveesyaah, Akshra Nair, Kogulan, Suresh and Raj Ganesh. Customers can enjoy Serial Pei from 4 January at 9pm on Astro Vinmeen HD (CH 231) via TV, Astro GO and On Demand.
